12-21-09 L.A. Story

I went down to Los Angeles to meet with one of our downtown building owners and to introduce him to potential investors.

The day started at the Weingart Center in Skid Row. http://www.weingart.org/

This is a comprehensive transitional housing center for people who want to get out of chronic homelessness. Participants can stay for two years. They have mandated savings programs. It is for individuals only.

We also looked at some well-designed affordable housing in Los Angeles:

and then put this into Google maps and look at street view: 360 W Avenue 26, Los Angeles, California 90031

The introductory meeting with the downtown property owner was friendly and informative. There is some good possibility of forward movement with his building, I'll report more when I have something a little more tangible.
